Single use means SINGLE use‼️ Intravenous/ blood draw needles are SINGLE USE, once they come out of the skin, they do not go back in! The needle will be blunt (increasing bruising) and bacteria from the skin’s surface is more likely to be introduced into the bloodstream/area; leading to increased risk of infection. #holyairball #trending #awareness #truestory #wheelchairgirl
From birthday joy to burnout… this week reminded me how quickly things can change when you live with a chronic illness. It started with so much love, I celebrated my birthday surrounded by family, shared laughs, and received the most thoughtful gifts. I am so grateful to have such an amazing family 🥹 But as the week went on, my body began to crash. I’m overdue for my B12 injection, and because I don’t absorb vitamins and minerals like most people, my energy and strength have taken a big hit. Thankfully, it’s finally booked for next week. Still, I’m honouring the wins - even the ones that didn’t look the way I expected: 🖐 Birthday joy and feeling deeply loved 🖐 Finally finding a Peristeen routine that’s improving my day-to-day (@Coloplast@Coloplast_UK have been amazing!) 🖐 Choosing rest over pushing through - and being okay with that 🖐 Booking a doctor’s appointment (huge for me!) and arranging the care I need 🖐 Getting out of bed every day, even when it felt impossibly hard Not every week is easy, but every win counts (especially when it’s earned in a body that’s fighting so hard) Drop your highs in the comments — big or small - I’d love to celebrate them with you 💬✨ #High5s #ChronicIllnessJourney #DisabilityAwareness #WheelchairGirl #ChronicIllness #Peristeen #CelebrateTheWins
Not the ending I expected on this video 😩 This is Part 1 of 2… sorry in advance, it ended up longer than planned so I’ve split it into two parts 🙈 I’ve been getting cervical screening reminder letters for nearly two years… and I kept putting it off. But today, I’m finally doing it. My last smear test was not ideal (hello, crowd of students 👋🏼), but this test could literally save my life. So today, I’m getting ready, heading out, and keeping my promise: no more procrastinating. As a disabled woman, I know the system isn’t built for us- but this test can save lives! It’s time to stop procrastinating and get it done… Products used in this 🎥: @Armani beauty Luminous Silk foundation 3.75 @Too Faced Born This Way Concealer vanilla wafer @Benefit Cosmetics Boiing Concealer and mascara @Makeup Revolution Baking Powder in rose and lace and Powder Blush in peach bliss @rimmellondon Radiance Brick @Coloplast_UK@Coloplast - lol #CervicalScreening #SmearTest #WheelchairGirl #GRWM #GetReadyWithMe #UkHealthcare #StoryTime #ProcrastinationPledge #GetChecked
Who else has struggled to sleep in this heat? Can’t wait for my extension to be done as I plan on fitting an air con unit in there 🙌 Somehow forgot to post this on here yesterday 🙃 This weeks (last week) High 5’s: 🖐️ Bob and I travelled to London for a court case… it didn’t quite go to plan and I need to return later this year. I can’t really discuss what it’s for yet but I feel it’s really important for me (and the disability community) to seek justice ⚖️ 🖐️ I went for another vitamin and mineral infusion and I am already feeling some of the benefits ❤️🩹 🖐️ Had an interview with local radio about my negative smear test experience and how GP surgeries aren’t always accessible to disabled people. I felt this was REALLY important to raise awareness about so was grateful to be given that voice. I look forward to hearing the interview soon (hopefully next week) 📻 🖐️ I had a power cut- obviously this wasn’t a high but it made me reflect on how fortunate I am to have access to electricity, hot water, internet and a phone. I am grateful that it is back on now and next week I need to invest in a torch incase it ever happens again. 🔦 🖐️ I had a lovely outing to Seaton with Bob and we enjoyed some ice cream on the sea front. I love living so close to the sea- as someone who grew up in the midlands, it’s something not to take for granted! 🌊🍦 How was your week and what were some of your #High5s ? 💖 #DisabilityAwareness #PumpAndDump #WheelchairGirl #DayInTheLife
Hands down THE BEST concert I’ve ever been to (*that I can remember 😅) London Night 4 you were AMAZING 🥹🤠🐝 Gifted experience with @Nails.INC THANK YOU SO MUCH 🥲💫💅 #Beyoncé #CowboyCarter #beyhive #CowboyCarterTour #London @Beyoncé
✨ 8 years ago, I had lost all hope. Today, I’m filming this in California… with my mum. Hope is REAL. ✨ There was a time I truly believed my future had disappeared- that joy, purpose, even okay-ness were out of reach. But things can change. Life can surprise you. And even when the world feels heavy, hope is still one of the most powerful things we have. On July 12th, the United Nations is marking the first-ever International Day of Hope and I’m so proud to be part of it with @theglobalgoals If you’re feeling overwhelmed, you are not alone. Hope isn’t naive, it’s necessary. Let’s choose it together. 💛 A few ways I hold onto hope - especially when the world tries to crush it: 💛 I look back. Not to get stuck there, but to remember how far I’ve come. 💛 I surround myself with people who believe in something better - people who don’t laugh at hope, but live by it. 💛 And I remind myself: hope isn’t pretending everything’s okay. It’s knowing it’s not - and still finding the courage to care. #BeHope #GlobalGoals #HopeReport #MentalHealthAwareness #UN #ChooseHope #InternationalDayofHope AD
Pack with me to go away for 2 weeks… As I need so many medical supplies and I can’t eat the food on the flight (they give me a fruit platter) @VirginAtlantic kindly allow me to take an additional cabin and hold case free of charge 🥰 So excited for this trip away, please manifest that my bags all make it and don’t get lost 😅 #PackWithMe #WheelchairGirl #DisabilityAwareness
Fly from Heathrow to LA with us. As a wheelchair user, I find flying extra stressful as it’s not as easy to just get on and off a plane like I did before I became disabled. I rely on the assistance team getting to the aircraft on time with an aisle chair so I can hopefully pre-board before everyone else, I have to make difficult transfers (this one didn’t go well but I was ok and the flight crew were amazing), I can’t get up and ‘stretch my legs’ like most other passengers so I worry that the long flight could result in a pressure sore, I worry that my wheelchair and mobility devices won’t be allowed on board with me and may get damaged in the hold… Thanks to the @VirginAtlantic crew on board, Vicky and Vicky you couldn’t have taken better care of us (even gave us a cheeky beverage before everyone else boarded) and thank you SO much for finding space for my wheelchair (MY LEGS) on board- honestly meant so much! #WheelchairGirl #DisabilityAwareness #DayInTheLife
When I was doing the initial renovations to my house, I had to make some sacrifices in order to make it safe, habitable and accessible for me to live there. One was that I completely got rid of the wall-to-wall fitted wardrobes in the master bedroom so that I had enough room to install a wet room. The narrow entrance way and step up to the house left with no choice but to move the front entrance… entering straight into the kitchen wasn’t ideal at first but getting in was a priority and I actually quite like the layout now. But this did mean I lost the coat storage. My aim is to one day move all my clothes into the extension so that they are all in one place as it’s hard going between multiple rooms to find outfits and I often forget what I have. When I do this, I also plan on going through all my clothes and getting rid of what I don’t wear/plan on wearing. Now let’s talk about coats and jackets, atm they have been stuffed here there and everywhere. When guests come, the ask me where they can hang their coats… growing up, we ALWAYS had a cupboard under the stairs for coats but my house obviously doesn’t have stairs. I have no designated space for them… until now! I bought this really cool wardrobe system (they are from @LoftRobe if you’re wondering) which is perfect for me as it utilises a space I can’t even get up to. The wardrobe drops down from the ceiling at the click of a button- it’s brilliant! Now to sort the rest of my clothes out 😅 #TooManyClothes #WheelchairGirl #AccessibleHome #HomeRenovation
Replying to @🫶🏻liv🐾 the nurse said it would be a “waste of money” to make the practice accessible (height adjustable beds), with these figures in mind, do YOU think it’s a waste of money? Myself and many other disabled women are REFUSED access to smear tests, as our doctors surgeries FAIL to make reasonable adjustments. EVERY woman between 25 and 64 has a right to get the cervical screening! 📣 The NHS puts £175m into the cervical screening programme every year, 📣 Each missed (or in my case wasted) appointment costs the NHS £261, 📣 88% of disabled women surveyed by Jo's Cervical Cancer Charity said it was hard to attend or access cervical screenings, 📣 63% of disabled women surveyed by Jo's Cervical Cancer Charity said they were unable to attend due to their disability, 📣 If a cervical screening is missed and abnormal cells develop into cancer, the cost of treating cervical cancer can be significant, ranging from £1379 (stage 1) to £19,261 (Stage 2 or later) per person, 📣 According to google a hydraulic/height adjustable treatment table ranges from £280-£1200. Data and information found from @NHS UK , @UK Government , The former Jo’s Cervical Cancer Charity (closed down last year sadly) and @Google (lol) #AccessDenied #CallToAction #WheelchairGirl #AccessibilityForAll #CervicalScreening #SmearTest #NHS #UKHealthcare #HealthcareInequality #AccessMatters #DisabilityRights

The last 8 years have been extremely difficult at times but I’m so grateful to be LIVING my life and doing things that I once thought wouldn’t be possible again! “Stop fighting yourself, start fighting FOR yourself” was something I’ve repeated to myself these past years. No matter how hard it gets, I CAN still enjoy life- it just may be a little different to what I pictured. Swimming, hand cycling, rolled a half marathon, sit-down water skiing, abseiling in a wheelchair, zip lining, horse riding, crate climbing, archery, canoeing, feeding lemurs, themeparks, wheelchair rugby, public speaking, news and TV, and SO much more! So… what’s next? What’s my next challenge? What’s my next adventure? #BeyondLimits #WheelchairGirl #Wholesome #MyStory #LivingLife
Have you watched any of these? After such a stressful week, it was truly lovely to spend time with my grandparents, chill out and watch some TV with them. I love them so much! 🥰 Have you watched anything worth watching lately? 📺 Can you tell grandad is a big Simon Reeve fan? 🥹 #PopcornPicks #WhatToWatch @BBC@Paramount+ UK & Ireland @Prime Video UKIE #wholesome #UKTV #WatchList #UK #GrandparentsDay
Has my swimming improved from last year? … #BeyondLimits is a series I created where I challenge myself to attempt things that I thought wouldn’t be possible again since becoming paralysed. Getting back in the pool for the first time last year felt AMAZING (and terrifying!). I am determined to learn how to swim again so couldn’t wait to get back in the pool again this year… at least I didn’t swallow quite as much water this year 😅🤭 Come back soon to see the improvements I made on day 2 👀 I you have any tips, please let me know 🙌 #wheelchairgirl #comedy #paraswimming #reaction
