Creating a self aligning glue joint using this Amana Tool 80 degree V Joint bit on the router table. The bit did a fantastic job cutting this making it a nearly seamless joint. This joint provides additional glue area strengthening the joint and is especially useful when making raised panels as the glue seam is much less noticeable when joined like this. Using this giant 2-3/8" diameter bit to route a large chamfer on the bottom of this snowflake tray! The cut was all done in a single pass and the bit left a buttery smooth finish! I love the look this gives the tray from the side as the bottom disappears and almost makes it look like it's floating, like a real snowflake. What do you think of this piece? Making a heart catch all tray for Valentine's Day using Amana Tools on the Axiom Precision AR8 24"x48" CNC, all available from @toolstoday. Plans for this are available on our website, item number HCT. -- Matt started off flattening the piece using the RC-2255 2.5" 3 wing insert carbide flattening bit to make it perfectly flat before cutting the rest of it. -- RPM: 18,000 Feed Rate: 190ipm Plunge Rate: 95ipm Stepover: 80% Depth of cut: .1" Material: walnut -- He then used the 56126 3/16" Radius point roundover bit to add a roundover to each side, it's much easier to do on a CNC with pieces like this! -- RPM: 18,000 Feed Rate: 50ipm Plunge Rate: 25ipm Depth of Cut: .18" -- The bit was switched out for the 45984 3/4" diameter bowl bit to dish out the inside. There was a knot some Starbond super glue was used to fill it -- RPM: 18,000 Feed Rate: 40ipm Plunge Rate: 20ipm Depth per pass: .2" Stepover: 29% -- The 45771-K 30° Spektra coated engraving bit was used to engrave the bottom. -- RPM: 18,000 Feed Rate: 40ipm Plunge Rate: 20ipm Depth per pass: .1" -- Finally the 46416-K 1/4" downcut bit was used to cut the profile. It has a 1-1/8" cut height making it the perfect bit for this thicker piece. -- RPM: 18,000 Feed Rate: 80ipm Plunge Rate: 40ipm Depth per pass: .25" -- The MR0112 3/16" ball bearing mini roundover bit was used to roundover the bottom and trim the tabs. It was sanded with 220 grit paper and finish was applied. The piece is done and his wife loved it!

The most important thing about making a tray like this with an engraved bottom, is to set your z-zero position from the same place with all tools. Then, when you set up your v-carve toolpath, set your start depth to the final depth you cut into the the tray. This ensures the v-bit carves the design correctly and will not contact the sides of the tray while doing rapid movements. The bottom of the snowflake catch all tray is now carved in and cut perfectly smooth! Cutting, prepping and trimming a dyed maple burl pen blank to turn for a gift. What do you think of how this Spektra™ logo turned out? Pouring the white and blue epoxy into the Spektra™ logo cut out with the Shaper Origin, item no. SO1-NN, all available on our website. ---- I then flattened off the majority of the epoxy using a router flattening jig and the Amana Tool. RC-2255 3 wing insert carbide flattening bit. I used TotalBoat High Performance 2:1 epoxy, also available on our website, and @mixolusa #25 White tint with some blue and white pigments for the X as well. I absolutely love the look of this!

What do you think of how this project turned out? Making a leather tool pouch on the CNC machine using the Donek D4 Drag knife on the new Stepcraft Gen 3 D.840 CNC machine, all available on our website!  The drag knife cut the leather perfectly leaving nice clean cuts, I love watching it work! To drill the 5mm holes I used the 363005 solid carbide drill with the 365050 bushing and 47636 adapter at 50ipm plunge rate. For the 2mm holes I used the 363002 2mm solid carbide drill with the 364020 and 47636 adapters.

Installing the AirWeights Universal Vacuum table, now available on our website, on our CNC machine. The 24"x48" complete setup shown here was very easy to install with the included pin locations file to ensure it is installed square to the machine! The table works great at holding super flexible material, like this plastic, that would be difficult to hold down any other way as well as other relatively flat non porous materials. Trying to pull it off the table maxed out my force gauge at 120lbs and it didn't budge. If your material has too much of a warp, cup or twist, vacuum tables will not be able to hold the material to the wasteboard, but holds great for most relatively flat materials. For smaller machines, we also offer AirWeights setups in 24"x24" tiles that you can combine to use on even larger areas if you wish! Don't make this type of cut on a table saw! Making crosscut like this increases the risk of kickback significantly. Using a miter gauge is a really easy way to make this type of cut safe and more accurate, there are plenty of options out there, so pick what works for you! I love v-carving @kingplastic Color Core on the Stepcraft M.1000 CNC machine using the Amana Tool #RC-45711 90° insert carbide v-groove bit both available from @toolstoday. After doing the carving I switched out for the Amana Tool 51404-K 1/4" spiral O flute Spektra coated upcut bit to cut the profile.
