***the red oak was 80% vaneered particle board before anyone panics!*** My friend wanted some advice for her Red Oak built-ins from the 90s but after seeing her dismay that she really didnt like the original built-ins, i offered to help her update it to exactly what SHE loves. She had already started priming it and we planned to keep the base cabients and the shelving units on the side. Everything else, had to go! My friend wanted something simple and modern and to bring the cabinets to the ceiling. She wanted updated tile and a fresh coat of white paint.
