And that’s okay.” Khalid, best known for hits like 2017’s “Love Lies” with Normani and 2018’s “Eastside” with Halsey and Benny Blanco, continued to open up to fans on X, insisting he was “never hiding” his sexuality but that it was simply “nobody’s business.” After a fan responded with a clip of his 2022 track “Satellite,” calling it an “LGBTQ+ anthem,” Khalid replied with gratitude, “Thank you!!!! She also voiced a lesbian character in Pixar’s Onward, the first queer animated character to appear in a Pixar film. In 2017, she made history as the first Black woman to win an Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for a Master of None episode, which was loosely based on her personal experience of coming out. The pair reportedly first met at the Met Gala in 2018 which Cynthia shared on instagram, “I finally found my sis. Lena you are absolutely everything. You are perfection. What a meeting of minds, glad to have you in my life! Stuck like glue !!! SHINE QUEEN SHINE!” Waithe told Variety in 2020 that while she had already been a fan of Erivo, it was after they met that the two began “vibing”. Despite meeting six years ago, Cynthia and Lena were just friends for a while. They have never formally announced their relationship. In 2022, Cynthia posted a birthday tribute to Lena. That same year in June, the pair were pictured together at the Alvin Ailey Spirit Gala. Author and comedian David Walliams has said that he would “probably” identify as non-binary if he were a teenager today. Speaking to Australian media personality Josh Szeps on his podcast Uncomfortable Conversations, Walliams addressed his gender identity and his sexuality. He reflected on his 2008 children’s book The Boy in the Dress, which features a 12-year-old boy named Dennis who is encouraged to cross-dress by his friends. Walliams began by saying the book was “sort of seen as a bit more daring” at the time of release, but explained that he feels perceptions of gender and sexuality have advanced in recent years. “I’ve always sort of felt like celebrating difference, so I’ve always thought it’s exciting,” he said, adding that he sometimes questions how he would identify if he were younger. “I sort of think, where would I be positioning myself maybe, if I was now 19 or 20,” he wondered. “Because I went to Bristol University and did a drama degree. And I think that course is where you’re probably… if there’s a group of people who are going to be most interested in that sort of area, most drawn to that area, it’s probably going to be drama students.” Szeps went on to press the former Britain’s Got Talent judge on how he would identify if he were in his late teens now. “I don’t know. I mean, I think in a way I’d probably say I’m non-binary, I think. Probably. I don’t know exactly,” he replied. “But I mean, it’s interesting. So I had this girlfriend at the end of university and we used to go out – I used to go out – we used to go to like gay clubs and dance for like six hours and I’d be wearing like a skirt or stuff like that,” he continued. Questioned on whether he had ever experimented with men, Walliams responded: “Yeah, I’d say so… But again, it almost feels strange because these things were such a big deal to talk about back then.” Walliams’ sexuality has been a point of public discussion since his controversial hit BBC show Little Britain began airing in 2003, where the actor portrayed several gay characters. After joining Britain’s Got Talent in 2012, Walliams made headlines for playing up to his camp persona and pretending to be besotted with fellow judge, Simon Cowell. The star went on to tell Szeps that he sometimes thinks that “my life would’ve been easier if I were gay” due to his “love of gay culture”. He’s previously suggested his life would be “simpler” if he were gay as people already assume him to be. The Gangsta Granny author has also implied that he may be pansexual, saying in 2013 that he is attracted to the “soul and heart and brain” of a person rather than the “body”. David Walliams married Dutch model Lara Stone in 2010, but the couple divorced in 2015. They have one child together. #davidwalliams #littlebritain #nonbinarytiktok #enby #genderidentity #lgbtqia
Wicked star Cynthia Erivo has called out podcast host Dax Shepard, after his question about her nails. The pair discussed all things Wicked ahead of its release this week. Whilst chatting on Armchair Expert about her decorative long nails, the conversation descended into this. Cynthia has been method dressing as her Wicked character, Elphaba, throughout the film’s press tour, with daring black outfits and gorgeous manicures — seemingly a tribute to Elphaba’s long nails. She previously explained she ‘wanted [Elphaba] to have micro braids and I wanted her to have a full set [of nails] for two reasons: [they are] a nod to my culture and a nod to the world of Oz.’ And Cynthia has played a key role throughout the filming of Wicked when it came to her character's styling. In an interview with Elle, she explained that incorporating hair and nails into her version of the character, as well as Elphaba’s freckles and eye colour “allowed her to really fall in love with this woman." She has also been outspoken about the importance of representation throughout the press tour of this film, sharing: "I felt like these little nods to us as Black women were really important. It didn't erase who I was underneath the green as well." #wicked #daxshepard #armchairexpert #nails #acrylicnails #beauty
The 2024 Outnumbered Christmas special saw the Brockman family reunite on screen for the first time since 2016: and boy, was it jam packed with revelations – particularly about hilarious fan-favourite Karen. Claire Skinner (Sue), Hugh Dennis (Pete), Tyger Drew-Honey (Jake), Daniel Roche (Ben) and, of course, Ramona Marquez (Karen) all reprised their iconic roles 17 years on from their first-ever outing in 2007. It isn’t all fun and games, however. Pete has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and is struggling with how to break the news to his children who – now all in their twenties – have a lot going on in their lives. Jake is trying to juggle working from home with looking after his energy-filled three-year-old, Zara. Ben is planning an ambitious trip to the Andes, but spends half the episode trapped on rail replacement buses. However, it was a revelation about Karen’s life that had queer viewers celebrating. The episode confirmed that Karen is a lesbian, who hasn’t been particularly lucky in love. Asked about her most recent girlfriend Lucy, she simply says: “We split up.” Later in the episode, it’s also revealed that she’s a Just Stop Oil protester. Basically, as a character, adult Karen seems to have been perfectly designed to annoy a GB News presenter, and we love to see it. What’s more, art is imitating life – Ramona Marquez is, like Karen Brockman, a lesbian. The actress came out as bisexual in her contribution to the book Women Don’t Owe You Pretty, by Florence Given, which was published in 2020, and in 2022 revealed that she was in a relationship with photographer Emily Caiger. Although Ramona has not updated fans on her relationship status since then, Emily regularly features on her Instagram, and her bio on the platform now describes Ramona as: “Lesbian, vegan and a sober girly.” Queer fans flocked to social media to celebrate the fact that Karen is now, officially, a queer icon. Others said how important this queer representation was to them, with one writing: “Karen being a lesbian is so special to me.” Another said: “I’m behind on Outnumbered but Karen being the gifted and talented kid at school and now she’s gay, oh yes I called it.” The Outnumbered Christmas special is available to watch on iPlayer. #outnumberedkaren #outnumbered #lesbian #gay #lgbt #christmas
